Milestones

Okay, okay, okay, so I suck at the whole blogging thing! I have not added anything in quite some time, sorry for that.

So...I have noticed some things this past week that have caused me to stop and review some milestones. We all know about general milestones in everyone’s life like when you become a teenager or get your drivers license and all of the pedestrian milestones we reach in our life. In this post I would like to state all of minuscule milestones that are not noticed as well...noticeable, and here they are in no particular order.

-When your three year old is finally tall enough to walk around the shallow end of the pool beyond the stairs.
-When your ingenious 18 month old has figured out that she can reach anything with the strategic placement of a kitchen chair.
-When your three year old wakes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and does not wake you to wipe her butt because she can now do it efficiently by her self.
-When you lose your purse, keys, phone or any other flashy item and your three year old tells you where it is.
-When you have to lower the crib to last level because your 18 month old is now tall enough to crawl out.
-When your 18 month old sleeps through the night and you are thankful for the extra sleep but you miss the middle of the night rendezvous and it makes you realize your baby is growing up.

-When your 18 month old is too tall for the changing table and her little feet stick over the end.
-When both your three year old and the 18 month old sit completely still for an hour or more watching a movie with you on the couch. (by the way that movie was Coraline...my children have a propensity for the odd and sinister, I guess they get from me.. hehe)
-When you realize that milestones are just that and there is no turning back as much as you would like and this makes you sad.

All of these things and more make me realize that time is faster than a speeding bullet and if you blink it will pass you by and I should have purchased heaver chairs. I wish I could stop time and encase everything and everyone in amber so it will be preserved for all eternity but then, I would have no more milestones as this is just the beginning.

So here’s to many more minuscule milestones that no one tells you about and how they are just as important as the major milestones.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Heather. I am the mother of 2 wonderful little girls who keep me super busy. Eleanor is 3 and Alexandra is 1 and a half. I am also the step-mother of McCaela; she is 15 going on 30. I am married to a wonderful man named Ron. We have been married for 6 years and together for 11.

I have a great relationship with my parents and try to spend as much time as I can with them. Life chooses its own path which I find I constantly fight.

I am hoping that this blog will give me an opportunity to get things off of my chest, share my life experiences and hopefully be able to look back and reflect or pass it off to my children.

I am thankful and happy for the life I have been given. I would not change anything. I have been taught that life is extremely short and we need to be humble and thank God for placing us here. We may not always agree with what we have been handed or like any of it but; everything has a purpose and what we do with that purpose greatly depends on you and you alone.
